Haarlem Archaeopteryx

Description

The Haarlem specimen of Archaeopteryx lithographica.
Vector drawings of both pieces of the actual fossil, all the bones together, and a reconstruction.

You'll notice that some bones are semi transparent, these bones aren't actually left on the fossil, but they did leave inprints on the matrix.

Edit:
Looking back on this I see that I made a mistake on the toes, Archaeopteryx didn't have a sickle claw that was lifted off the ground like other raptors. It walked on all three toes, maybe I'll fix the picture one day.
Some of the claws are also too big because I didn't take into account that the preserved keratin sheaths had slipped off from some of the claws. Much of the rest of the bone should still be fairly accurate though.

Made with Adobe Illustrator CS2

Apparently according to a new study this specimen might actually not belong to the genus of Archaeopteryx. This study places it in the family Anchiornithidae that was until now only know from China. They name this new species Ostromia crassipes
